Ner'zhul, the Lich King, knew that his time was short. Imprisoned within the Frozen Throne, he suspected that Kil'jaeden would send his agents to destroy him. The damage caused by Illidan's spell had ruptured the Frozen Throne; thus, the Lich King was losing his power daily. Desperate to save himself, he called his greatest mortal servant to his side: the death knight Prince Arthas.

Weakened, but determined to save his master, Arthas reached Northrend only to find Illidan's naga and blood elves waiting for him. He and his nerubian allies raced against Illidan's forces to reach the Icecrown Glacier and defend the Frozen Throne.

Though his powers were drained by the Lich King's weakness, Arthas had been involved in a civil war in Lordaeron. Half of the standing undead forces, led by the banshee Sylvanas Windrunner, staged a coup for control over the undead empire. Arthas, called by the Lich King, was forced to leave the Scourge in the hands of his lieutenant, Kel'Thuzad, as the war escalated throughout the Plaguelands.

Ultimately, Sylvanas and her rebel undead (known as the Forsaken) claimed the ruined capital city of Lordaeron as their own. Constructing their own bastion beneath the wrecked city, the Forsaken vowed to defeat the Scourge and drive Kel'Thuzad and his minions from the land.

I have secretly surveilled Adelgonn and her people since her departure. It is my duty as Councilward, after all, to know all that transpires on the Isle of Dorn. She has long retired her Stoneward title. She and the Unbound founded a settlement to the south. As to their new purpose, I'm not sure if I understand it. Many of them seek to shed their duty to the titans, but the Edicts are our identity. Are they earthen without them? I know what Stormward Baelgrim would say. In a way he's right. It should not be possible. Thinking beyond our coding, our directives... The existence of Unbound is a miracle.

We were no match for the nerubians. A ram gored one from behind and we were able to finish it off. How gruesome they look even when dead.

The Stormriders and I have protected the Isle since our inception. We upheld the Edicts after the Stoneward and High Speaker left. If either of them were true earthen, they would already be here, ready to protect their home and people from further attack. But if I alone have to keep the Coreway free and Dornogal safe, so be it.

Even in peace there is still war, and many clans still fight beneath the banner of the Warchief. Are you here to add your clan to those that fight for Orgrimmar?

I'm tellin' you, that Coren Direbrew's a madman. It's not MY fault he didn't get invited to compete at Brewfest! But that didn't stop him and all his Dark Iron cronies from roughin' up my employees and drinking all my brew. Someone's got to put an end to this!

Too many of our navy's ships were destroyed either by the Legion or by the Alliance. I have our dockmasters working overnight, but we need more.

With each passing day, more of my people awaken within the Stonevault. Many of them have embraced their old designations. This is not a path I wish to forge. For some, traditions are hard to forget and abandon. I pass no judgement. Many others have embraced a new path--like me. For the first time in earthen memory, we have no Edicts and the whole world of Azeroth is ours to explore. Many have set off to walk new lands and meet the people and cultures of our world.
